Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi! We have Setsubun beans ready!

This year, Setsubun falls on February 2nd.

The word “Setsubun” literally means “seasonal division.”

Traditionally, it refers to the day before each of the four seasonal beginnings: Risshun (the start of spring), Rikka (summer), Risshū (autumn), and Rittō (winter).

However, over time, only the day before Risshun, which marks the beginning of the new year, came to be recognized as “Setsubun.”

At THE GENERAL KYOTO, we have prepared Setsubun beans for our guests, wishing you a year of good health and happiness.

Please enjoy them in your room.

Additionally, various shrines across the city will be hosting Setsubun festivals.

If you are interested, please feel free to inquire at the front desk.
